Easter Skiing in April 2019/20 or Not? Covid-19 Makes the Decision.
Dealing with Danger, Stroking my Skin.
pop quiz: the lyric above is from what song and artist? clue: put your finger directly on the current or alternatively…
Coincidentally last summer we decided that we weren’t going to ski at all during the 2019/20 season. Instead we’d tick off one of our bucket list destinations that are best visited in January/February. So on 31st December we set off for Bangkok to tour Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. We were there for two months, flying back on 28th February, just ahead of the crisis that has engulfed the world.
Due to COVID-19, ski resorts around the world have closed early, flights are cancelled, hotels are closed, ski competitions and events have been postponed or cancelled, and we are all sat at home wondering what’s going to happen next.
I’m sure many of you would have had your plans for the 2019/20 ski season curtailed, but hopefully have managed to stay safe and healthy and are looking forward to the 2020/21 ski season. I know we are.
Covid-19 Hotspot in Ischgl.
I did read a report blaming an apres-ski bar in Ischgl for the spread of COVID-19 across Europe. But, then I’ve read a lot of things that I don’t believe to be true. What I do know is that I’m staying home. I’m doing yoga sessions. I’ve done some gardening. I’ve been out on my bike (kept a safe distance from any dog walkers I saw). I’m trying to say fit and healthy. I hope you are too, and in a phrase that seems to be gaining some momentum, see you on the other side!
