Many of those who responded to my Ski Poles survey recommended Leki ski poles with their Trigger S glove attachment. For pole position, here’s a good short video that demonstrates their use and the advantages.

Since doing my ‘How to Hold Ski Poles‘ survey and watching videos like the above, I’ve taken to abandoning pole straps. My rationale is that I’d prefer to lose a pole than lose a thumb. I’ve currently left the pole straps in place as they prove useful for hooking your poles over skis when leaving them outside mountain restaurants. The pole straps can also make them easier to carry or can be converted into a nifty ski carrier.
